Building a Nest
Report from Goldfeather:
A good beginning. Systems functional. Staff battered but up and about.
The Nest’s basic arrangement is much like a hot-air balloon, with heavier-than-air living quarters dangling below a set of huge inflated gas-bags they can heat or cool, compress or expand to rise or fall. There are five gas bags, and any three are sufficient to keep the tiny settlement afloat at a survivable altitude. The air at this height requires moderate processing to sustain Sav life, but the Arts seem amenable to it for short periods.
Sav staff have set one another’s bones and are (with many splints and bandages) up and about. The settlement is still relying on stores for all life support, but hopes by next Pulse to be able to harvest at least enough resources to become self-sufficient.
Only notable Life observed at our altitude is a species of beetle, size ranging from 10 cm to 1 meter. They appear to appreciate the opportunity to rest on our platform. They nibble but appear to disapprove of the taste and depart again in short order.
Bots on the Web
There are several in Etro that appear to be modeled on upright walking figures, six to ten meters tall and powered by rockets in their feet or backs. They are currently engaged in fundraising for a prize-fighting purse. They have not yet appealed to the Goddess Yeb for sponsorship.
Chocolate-Covered Vitamins
Yeb 6D makes a snap decision to stay with the Graves rather than attempt to move all the delicate infrastructure required for cloning fresh Yebs. Her plan is to keep a low profile and only reveal her presence aboardship if things go badly enough on Etro to require a display of foresight, omnipresence or miraculous resurrection. Vitamin research proceeds apace. She finds she rather enjoys the quiet solitude.
Course... Correct?
The Graves remains on course to arrive at the Gate on Pulse 5. This will send it to an adjacent star system. Any star system adjacent to Etro is reachable using background-level maneuvers.
The Graves can no longer reach the Gate next Pulse.
If Yeb wishes to prevent the Graves from traveling through the Gate on Pulse 5, the Navigator must decide when to brake — the later braking procedure begins, the higher the cost in Gas
Standby Jats
Yeb Prime notifies Yeb 2F and her Jats that she plans to attend the Charity Council Meeting. Just in case she needs assistance and a rescue.
